Legal notice and terms of use

Last updated: October 26, 2026

This document identifies the operator of myShelf and governs access to its website, use of the app and its associated services. The terms of each purchase are displayed before confirmation in the relevant store.

Legal notice: service provider

The myShelf app and this website are operated by the following company, referred to as “Nubico”:

These details identify the service provider under Spanish Law 34/2002 on information society services and electronic commerce. The contact email handles service enquiries, technical issues, complaints, privacy requests and notices concerning unlawful content.

Purpose, access and account

myShelf helps you organise a personal library, record reading activity and sessions, create notes and view statistics. It also offers backups and optional community features. The app does not sell books or provide access to the full text of works listed in its catalogue.

Paid features require a valid subscription or purchase under the available offer. Some features operate locally; signing in is required for account backups, an @handle and community participation. Available features may depend on the device, app version and store.

You must comply with these terms when using myShelf. Provide accurate information where required, protect your credentials and report unauthorised access to your account. Do not share passwords or verification codes. Our privacy policy explains how personal data is processed; reading it does not constitute consent to processing that requires separate consent.

myShelf is not directed at children under 14. You must have the legal capacity to purchase paid features or involve your legal representative where required. Store age ratings describe app content and do not replace these requirements.

App licence

Downloading or purchasing myShelf grants a personal, non-exclusive right to use it on compatible devices, subject to the distribution store’s rules. It does not transfer ownership of the software, trademarks or other rights belonging to Nubico or third parties.

If you obtain the app through the App Store, the Apple Standard End User Licence Agreement applies. These terms supplement that licence by governing the myShelf service; they do not replace or amend it. Google Play’s distribution and purchase terms also apply to apps obtained there. Mandatory consumer rights remain unaffected in all cases.

Prices, purchases and subscriptions

Before you confirm a purchase, the store’s purchase screen displays the product, final price and applicable taxes, currency, duration and, where relevant, trial and renewal terms. Purchase confirmation and receipts are managed through your Apple or Google account. Nubico does not receive your full payment card details.

Turning off renewal generally allows you to use the remainder of the paid period, subject to the store’s terms. You can restore purchases using the corresponding myShelf feature and the store account used for the purchase. Cross-platform access and purchase sharing depend on the product and store terms.

Price changes will be communicated and applied in accordance with the law and the store’s notice and acceptance procedures. They do not retroactively change the price of an already paid period.

Withdrawal, refunds and consumer rights

You can request a charge review or refund through Apple or Google Play’s order support, depending on where you purchased. For issues with the service or purchased access, also contact Nubico at hola@nubico.tech.

These terms do not exclude rights of withdrawal, remedies for lack of conformity or other statutory rights. Where an exception to withdrawal applies to digital content or services, it only takes effect if the legal requirements are met, including any required consents and acknowledgements. Merely downloading the app or reading these terms is not a general waiver of those rights.

Content and intellectual property

You retain the rights you hold in your original contributions, including notes, reviews, photographs, recordings and suggestions. You must have the rights or permissions needed to use and share third-party material, including text, images and other people’s personal data.

By submitting content to the service, you give Nubico a non-exclusive authorisation, limited to what is necessary to provide the service, to store it, make technical copies and display it to the audience determined by the feature and your settings. This does not authorise the use of private notes in advertising. Content removal and retention are described in the privacy policy.

Titles, descriptions, authors, covers and other metadata may come from providers such as ISBNdb, Google Books and Open Library. Rights in those works and materials belong to their respective holders. A book’s presence in myShelf does not transfer any rights in it or constitute an endorsement by Nubico. Metadata may contain errors; you can correct records in your own library.

Acceptable use and community rules

Social mode is optional. Profiles, reading activity and reviews are displayed according to the features and visibility controls described in the privacy policy. Feature suggestions and comments are shared with other users and must not be used to submit confidential information.

You must not:

These rules do not prevent legitimate discussion of books that address mature subjects. Content is assessed in its context, taking into account its purpose and the rights of affected people.

Reporting, blocking and moderation

You can block or report a user from their profile and report suggestions or comments through their options. You can also notify us of unlawful content at hola@nubico.tech, identifying its location, why you are reporting it and the information needed to find it. Do not attach unlawful material when identifying its location is sufficient.

We review reports within 24 hours. Depending on the seriousness and recurrence of a breach, we may remove content and suspend access to social features for 7 days, 30 days or indefinitely. You can request a review by contacting us and identifying your account and the relevant content or decision.

A social suspension does not automatically cancel a subscription or delete the entire account. Any further measure affecting purchased access must respect applicable rights. Certain moderation records are retained to prevent repeated abuse, as explained in the privacy policy.

Service operation and liability

Nubico must exercise the care required in providing the service and respect applicable statutory warranties for digital content and services. Interruptions may occur due to maintenance, technical incidents or third-party dependencies; we will address them according to their nature. References to external services do not imply that Nubico controls their content or terms.

Keep copies of data that matters to you and use the available export and backup features. This recommendation does not exclude any liability Nubico has under the law. No provision excludes liability for intentional misconduct or any other liability that cannot lawfully be excluded.

Changes and ending the service

We may update myShelf for technical, security, legal or feature development reasons. We will explain significant changes and, where required by law, their scope, timing and available options before they take effect. Changes cannot deprive you of rights associated with an existing purchase.

If we update these terms, we will publish the new version and its date. Material changes will be communicated appropriately. If closure of the service is planned, we will provide advance notice to help you export your library, without affecting any applicable refund rights or other remedies.

You may stop using myShelf and delete your account at any time. Remember to cancel any subscription separately through the store.

Website and cookies

The public website myshelf.nubico.app uses Cookiebot and, if you consent, Google Tag Manager and Google Analytics to measure visits. That measurement is not part of the app. You can change your consent with “Cookie settings” or on the cookie declaration; processing is described in the privacy policy.

Applicable law and complaints

These terms are governed by Spanish law, without prejudice to mandatory consumer protection rules applicable in your place of residence. Disputes fall within the jurisdiction of the courts determined by law; these terms do not require consumers to waive their right to an applicable local court.

For enquiries or complaints, contact hola@nubico.tech or write to the registered office above. You can save or print this document to retain a copy of the terms.
